Awami League official Gazi Mozammel Hossain detained in Netrokona
A local Awami League leader was apprehended during an early morning operation at his Moktar Para residence in Netrokona town.
Gazi Mozammel Hossain, known as Tuku, serves as the education and human resources secretary for Netrokona District Awami League. Authorities from Netrokona Model Police detained him around 4:30 am today.
Police sources indicate Hossain faces charges in two separate cases related to explosive materials. Netrokona Model Police Station’s chief officer Kazi Shahnewaz confirmed the arrest, stating, “Hossain has been implicated in multiple explosive-related cases. He’s been formally arrested in one case and will face court proceedings soon.”
Hossain previously held leadership roles as general secretary of District Chhatra League and vice president of Netrokona Government College. His political career also includes serving as the district Awami League’s education secretary.
Local reports suggest approximately 53 cases have been registered against Awami League members and associated groups across Netrokona’s 10 police stations following the party’s exit from government. These cases reportedly name nearly 5,000 individuals as defendants.
